What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive therapy that involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears. These points correspond to different organs and systems in the body.

By stimulating these reflex areas, reflexology encourages the body’s natural healing processes, improves circulation, reduces stress, and promotes overall wellness.

It is not a massage and does not diagnose or treat specific conditions, but many clients experience relief from chronic tension, improved energy, and a greater sense of balance and relaxation.

What is Clinical Reflexology?

Clinical reflexology is the professional application of reflexology techniques by a trained and certified practitioner. It combines traditional reflexology principles with a more targeted, health-focused approach. A clinical reflexologist tailors each session based on a client's individual health history and wellness goals, often working alongside other healthcare providers. This structured and intentional method supports clients dealing with chronic conditions, recovery from illness, or those simply looking to maintain and improve their overall health.

Meet the Practitioner

Harold Sargent practitioner

Welcome, and thank you for visiting

My name is Harold Sargent, and I’m a Certified Clinical Reflexologist with a passion for helping people feel better—naturally.

Although I began formally studying reflexology a couple of years ago, my introduction to the practice came over 25 years ago through two dear friends. At the time, I wasn’t ready to explore it—but life has a way of bringing things full circle.  Now, I have set up practice in my home in Troy, Ohio.

Years later, my wife was struggling with ongoing health issues, specifically related to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Conventional treatments weren’t bringing the relief we hoped for, so I decided to revisit reflexology. I began applying what I was learning to her condition, and the results were encouraging: improved wellness, restored functionality, and most importantly—hope. That was the turning point for me.

I pursued formal education at the Institute for Holistic Leadership in Centerville, Ohio, where I graduated in 2025 as a Certified Clinical Reflexologist. I’m proud of the training I received—it was both rigorous and rewarding.

In addition, I’ve pursued specialized instruction in Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD), a groundbreaking technique developed by Sally Kay in the United Kingdom. This gentle, yet effective therapy supports the lymphatic system and is particularly helpful for individuals experiencing swelling, often after cancer treatments. I’m currently conducting case studies and will soon offer this advanced service to clients.

My approach to reflexology is grounded in one simple goal: results. Many of our physical ailments are rooted in stress. When we address that underlying cause, the body has a remarkable ability to restore balance and health.

Whether you're seeking relief, prevention, or just want to feel… better—I'm here to help.

Client Comfort and Safety

Your comfort, safety, and privacy are my top priorities.  Reflexology sessions are provided in a dedicated treatment room within my home, designed to offer a calm, clean, and professional environment. While I work one-on-one with clients, I want to be especially mindful of the unique concerns that can arise—particularly for female clients visiting a home-based practice.

To ensure both safety and confidentiality:

  • My wife is always present in the home during sessions, though not in the treatment room.

  • The treatment room door remains partially open—enough to maintain a sense of safety and openness, while still respecting your privacy and confidentiality during your session.

If you have any additional concerns or preferences about your comfort or safety, I welcome you to share them. My goal is to ensure you feel at ease, respected, and cared for throughout your visit.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit to Harold Sargent Reflexology is designed with your comfort, safety, and well-being in mind.

Step 1: Intake and Introduction

When you arrive, we’ll begin with a brief intake session. You’ll have already completed a health history and personal information form, which helps me understand your unique needs.

All information shared is kept strictly confidential and protected under HIPAA regulations.

Step 2: ZYTO Scan

Next, a ZYTO scan will be conducted. This non-invasive scan provides a snapshot of your body’s stress at that moment in time.

The results—written in clear, easy-to-understand language—are emailed directly to you. They highlight areas of stress and offer suggestions to help you move toward greater balance and wellness.

This insight also helps me, as your practitioner, develop a personalized reflexology plan to support your progress.

Step 3: Understanding Balance

For clarity, balance refers to a state of harmony and proper function within the body—physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically.

It’s more than simply not being sick; it’s when all body systems work together smoothly and efficiently.

In reflexology, balance means supporting the body’s natural return to equilibrium—where energy flows freely, organs function optimally, and the mind and body are at peace.

Step 4: The Reflexology Session

This initial intake allows me to tailor your reflexology session to your individual circumstances, whether you’re seeking relief from specific concerns or wish to support your overall wellness.

Before the session begins, I’ll explain the reflexology process and answer any questions you may have.

You’ll remain fully clothed, reclining comfortably in a calm, relaxing environment while I apply gentle, precise pressure to specific reflex points on your bare feet.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

To complete your session, your feet will be wrapped in warm towels, followed by the application of a neutral lotion, which may be infused with lavender for added relaxation.

Lavender is also diffused in the room throughout your session—unless you prefer otherwise.

Duration

Your first appointment typically lasts 60 to 75 minutes, allowing time for intake, discussion, and a full reflexology session.

My Goal

My goal is for you to leave feeling relaxed, cared for, and more in tune with your body’s natural ability to heal.

Would you like me to make a matching version for your “What to Expect During a Session” page (shorter and more focused on the actual treatment process)? It would help create a consistent style across your site.

How to Prepare for Your Reflexology Treatment

To help you get the most benefit from your reflexology session, here are a few simple steps you can
take before your appointment:

Wear Comfortable Clothing
- Choose loose-fitting clothes so you can relax easily.
- Pants that can be rolled up to your knees are helpful, as your feet and lower legs may be worked on.

Stay Hydrated
- Drink plenty of water before and after your session.
- Hydration helps flush out toxins and supports your body's natural healing process.

Eat Lightly
- Avoid heavy meals right before your appointment.
- A light snack is fine, but you'll feel more comfortable if you're not too full.

Arrive a Few Minutes Early
- Give yourself time to settle in, use the restroom if needed, and begin to unwind.
- Try to avoid rushing to your appointment, as that can carry stress into your session.

Limit Distractions
- Silence your phone or set it aside to fully enjoy your time of relaxation.
- This is your time to disconnect and focus on your well-being.

Share Any Health Concerns
- If you're new to reflexology or have any current health issues, let me know during your intake.
- Your comfort, safety, and care are my top priorities.

First Time Appointment

- Bring the intake paperwork, make sure it has been filled out.

What to do after your treatment

Thank you for taking a step toward your wellness with reflexology. Your session has helped stimulate your body’s natural healing and balancing processes. To get the most benefit from your treatment, here are some simple but important things to keep in mind:

Drink Plenty of Water

  • Reflexology may help release built-up toxins and improve circulation and lymphatic flow.

  • Staying well-hydrated helps your body flush out these toxins and maintain balance.

  • Aim to drink extra water for the next 24 hours.

Listen to Your Body

  • Everyone reacts differently—some feel energized, others feel sleepy or emotional.

  • Some people may experience mild physical changes like increased urination, fatigue, vivid dreams, or even a temporary flare-up of old symptoms. These are signs your body is adjusting.

  • Trust your body’s process and allow time for it to rebalance.

Get Rest if You Feel You Need It

  • Reflexology activates your “rest and restore” system.

  • If you feel tired afterward, it’s okay to take it easy. Let your body continue to heal without added stress.

Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol for 24 Hours

  • These substances may interfere with the body’s detox and balancing responses.

  • Give your system the best chance to fully benefit from the treatment by avoiding added stimulants or toxins.

Observe and Reflect

  • Pay attention to how you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally in the next 1–3 days.

  • Take note of any changes, improvements, or reactions—it’s helpful feedback for you and for your next session.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a follow-up session, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you for choosing Harold Sargent Reflexology.

Pricing Philosophy

At Harold Sargent Reflexology, treatments are not priced by the clock.

Rather than limiting your session to a set number of minutes—or risking additional charges for going over—I allow the time necessary to complete a full and effective course of treatment, tailored to your individual needs.

Most sessions last approximately 45 minutes, but every client is unique. Two people may receive the same treatment, yet one may require more time due to personal circumstances. That’s why I schedule with flexibility—ensuring enough time for your treatment, your comfort, and proper room sanitization before the next client arrives.

Each session includes:

  • A full reflexology treatment

  • Calming background music to help you relax

  • A soothing finish with hot towels and the application of lotion

Treatment Fees

  • Total cost of first session, including intake with ZYTO scan is $75

  • Intake is repeated each January, after the initial intake, to update records.

  • ZYTO scan is $60 alone.  (It is included with initial intake)

  • $55 per session

  • Treatment fees are subject to change.

Cancellation & Late Arrival Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. I understand that life happens—just let me know as soon as you can so I can adjust the schedule accordingly.

If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late, please call to reschedule your appointment. This ensures the quality of your treatment and respects the time of others.

What Is Plantain?

The broadleaf plantain (Plantago major) is often dismissed as a common lawn weed, yet within its broad, veined leaves lie powerful healing compounds. For centuries, this humble herb has been celebrated in traditional medicine for its remarkable ability to soothe, heal, and protect.

Plantain is rich in bioactive substances that provide anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits — making it a natural ally against infection and irritation. It helps combat pathogens, bacteria, viruses, and fungi, promoting healthy skin recovery.

Topical uses include:

  • Minor cuts, scrapes, and burns

  • Insect bites, bee stings, and spider bites

  • Boils, ingrown toenails, and inflamed areas

  • Eczema, psoriasis, and rashes

  • Drawing out splinters, toxins, and mild insect venom

Beyond its healing strength, plantain also serves as a soothing moisturizer or lip balm, calming the skin and supporting natural repair.
